Crashin’ In Gorman!

Sand! Fuck! Does anybody love sand on a big bore ADV bike? I don’t! Maybe it’s time I learn a better way of dealing with it, though. Sand is like water in the sense that you never quite know how deep or what lies beneath. Especially on a trail. I don’t want to fear sand and I never have until recently. Gimme a quad with aired down tires and I’ll look for the closest hill to jump in the sand. It feels great when you land. Soft and almost like time is suspended. On a BMW 1200 GS, not so much. There are riders who sail through pretty well and even catch a jump or two in the sand. So, what’s the secret? I will show you in the article where I went wrong in all it’s hilarious glory and pointers from top riders on how to deal with sand. Maybe I’ll even return to the scene of the crime and negotiate the sand better!
